About me

I am a freelance writer, editor, author and digital court reporter. I’ve also worked as a development professional for nonprofit organizations facilitating e fundraising events that exceed their anticipated revenue.

I grew up hopping fences, climbing trees and splashing in the creeks in my backyard, which was 100 acres of second-growth forest in Central Illinois. I am passionate about our natural environment and working to ensure that our native landscape is protected for all future generations. Having spent my whole life in the Great Lakes region, I am particularly passionate about protecting our fresh waterways and forests. You can see examples of my outdoors writing on Third Coast Hikes, or on Instagram.

When I’m not outside, you’ll often find me indoors knitting furiously. I have been knitting for 20 years, and designing patterns for over 5 years. There is no kind of knitting that I haven’t tried yet, and I rarely shy away from big, difficult projects.  I like vintage-inspired things, crafting what I need to fit a specific purpose and taking hand knit garments backcountry camping because they’re nice and cozy. You can see more of my knitting projects on Unapologetically Ersatz or on Instagram.
